Firstly we have a consultation and assessment of the tooth. This is often done at the exam and clean appointment – here we will discuss a range of options, costs and likely success rates for each procedure and answer any questions you may have.

At the next appointment we prepare the tooth for a crown. We numb the tooth, prepare it to the appropriate shape and take a number of impressions or scans. Then we make you a temporary crown which you will wear for two weeks. This appointment usually takes up to 90 minutes.

Finally we place the crown. We numb the area, check the fit of the crown, cement it in and adjust the bite. The goal is to have a beautiful, natural looking crown which fits accurately and feels comfortable.

What Are Composite Veneers

The process is a bit simpler for composite veneers as opposed to porcelain veneers. The tooth is cleaned and lightly prepared before the dentist applies an adhesive which will be used to fasten the veneer to the tooth. The composite veneer will then be placed, shaped and polished. We sometimes suggest returning for an additional polishing appointment about a week later to make minor adjustments and check in on how you are adapting to your new teeth shape.
